DC Collectibles Cancels Lucha Explosiva! Action Figure Line

DC Collectibles recently sent notices to its direct market customers that it was canceling the previously announced Lucha Explosiva action figure line that mixed DC characters with lucha libre stylings. CBR.com reported it received the following statement from DC on the line’s cancellation.

While the DC ¡Lucha Explosiva! line launched with excitement, we are reevaluating new and exciting ways we can bring the reimaged DC characters to even more fans

It sounds like there was little interest on the direct market for the figure line, leading to its cancellation. That’s too bad; I was really looking forward to those figures.

DC’s Lucha Explosiva Action Figure Line (AKA, Take My Money Please!)

DC Collectibles is releasing a line of action figures featuring its characters depicted as lucha libre wrestlers.

From the team at DC Collectibles comes a joyful and imaginative new universe that combines the enthralling world of Mexican wrestling and the heroic history of DC Comics: DC LUCHA EXPLOSIVA! This all-new line of 7″ action figures take its roots from the deep history of Lucha Libre and Mexican luchadores. Each figure is a Latin American-inspired reimagining of a classic DC hero or villain, complete with an all-new backstory drawn from Mexico’s rich cultural history.
