Pat pointed me to this Flickr set of some awesome Justice League steampunk cosplay. I’d love to see what these folks could do with a steampunk Avengers set.

I don’t actually play any collectible miniature games, but I do collect them — I have a basement office that is practically overrun with HeroClix, HorrorClix, Dungeons & Dragons miniatures, etc. Battle Planner is the best Windows software I’ve come across for tracking and managing my collection.
I wish there was something this slick for non-collectible action figures and toys.
Marvel apparently hates this video since they’re forcing sites to take it off, but this Marvel Zombies fan film on Youtube is pretty cool. Definitely watch the entire film after the credits roll.
Pretty much every CD/DVD/HDVD/Blu-Ray burning that you can buy for Windows or comes pre-installed on a Windows PC is absolute crap. Programs like Nero have become ridiculously cumbersome bloatware.
On the other hand, the completely free ImgBurn works great, and actually focuses on burning files to optical media rather worrying about whether or not I want to stream for my Xbox (which is currently one of the features Nero touts — oy).
Oh, and did I mention its free?
Monster Island is a set of tabletop rules for giant monster combat. Grab some toy monster figures off the shelf, use the monster creation rules to design your monster of choice, and then fight it out for supremacy.
This game is very well done and is a great example of the advantages of PDF publishing for niche game products. There are numerous expansions and supplements on the Monster Island site that take the game in pretty much every direction a giant monster game should go — robots, human armies, alien invaders, etc.
Watch out, Tokyo Tower, here we come.
Super Giant Monster Showdown is a kaiju card game. Each player is dealt cards, builds the baddest ass kaiju possible, and then tries to go to town on the other players. What’s not to love?
Well, except for the fact that it’s frigging sold out. If someone knows of anyplace that still has this for sale (or you’ve got a used copy you want to sell, email me at [email protected])
