Astro Boy Tin Toy
Okay, I like Astro Boy as much as the next nerd, but I honestly assumed the price on this 12″ Astro Boy tin figure was a mistake when I was thumbing through Previews. But, no. The suggested retail price for this is $999.99. Some places, such as Entertainment Earth, list it as low as $850. Krazy.
Green Lantern Power Battery Replica
Back in 2008, DC Direct released a Green Lantern power battery replica that retailed for $395. Ouch. In May 2013 they’re releasing a new version of the power battery replica for $199.95.
This is apparently part of a series of replica power batteries. No more Darkest Night crap, please.
Did Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Send the FBI on a Literal Wild Goose Chase?
Interesting quote from an article at Truth Out which apparently also appears in Terry McDermott and Josh Meyer’s book The Hunt for KSM. Discussing the efficacy — or lack thereof — of torture, McDermott notes that one of the claims Khalid Sheikh Mohammed made after being waterboarded sent the FBI on a literal wild goose chase.
“He had us chasing the goddamn geese in Central Park because he said some of them had explosives stuffed up their ass,” former FBI counterterrorism agent, Ali Soufan, told the authors.
It would be nice to have additional sourcing and/or details on such an outlandish undertaking by the FBI.

From what I’ve seen so far, Man of Steel looks like crap, (surely Warner Bros can do something with the franchise other than just remaking the Donner films over and over again) but at least it will bring a surfeit of Supes toys and tie-ins. This Superman: Glowing Kryptonite and Book Kit is going to retail for only $9.95 — count me in.
