Apparently Seth Green is joining the cast of Scooby Doo 2. WTF? Okay, it is inconceivable to me given how bad the first Scooby film was that anyone would greenlight a sequel. Second, since Sarah Michelle Gellar’s career is going to last about as long as her hubbie’s one BTVS is finished, why not just replace the entire cast with Buffy regulars and make a film people might actually show up to see instead of this pointless sequel?
It’s my opinion that a “Buffy” movie with original cast from the series will never be made and here is why:
A. Season Five of Buffy was slated to be the last season but somehow Marti Noxen was able to coerce SMG into doing two more. Rumor has it that SMG was so sick of the character and the show that she VOWED never to return to the part in any incarnation.
B. To give you an idea as to how clueless SMG is about her career just remember: she had to be coached to help improve her attitude towards fan appreciation as she really did believe the show was all about her and was quoted as saying, “I really don’t care all that much about the fan’s of Buffy”. Word has it the cast and crew were so sick of her Diva antics on set that they all waited for her to leave after the final shoot wrapped BEFORE they partied.
C. Joss Whedon sold the rights to Buffy back when the first and only (POS) movie came out. The people who were responsible for that movie STILL own the rights to Buffy and the word is that not only are they going to make a new Buffy Movie WITHOUT any of the original series cast but they also have no intentions of getting Whedon involved. Last I heard they were even considering bring in some consultants from the “Twilight” Franchise to consult…can you say- Don’t have a clue-much?
