Journalist Forwards Abusive E-mails to Employers

I receive my fair share of nasty e-mails from people, some of which is sent from accounts that are clearly provided by the companies these folks work with me. In five years of receiving such e-mails it never once occurred to me to try to get even the most abusive people disciplined or fired by forwarding the e-mails back to their employers.

But that’s apparently what the Washington Post’s Susan Schmidt did when a couple people wrote her about being a mouthpiece for the Office of the Independent Counsel that investigated the Clintons.

That was an extreme overreaction. Just send e-mail from idiots directly to the trash. If journalists and public officials are going to be that thin skinned about e-mail, they might want to reconsider their chosen profession.
