One of my guilty pleasures is reading the “best gifts under $50” type lists that pop up around Christmas time. I get that they’re mostly just glorified ads, but I just can’t resist them.
Occasionally, I see things on these lists that I already own and think, “Yeah, that is a damn good gift for under that price point.” Like this Slice Auto-Retractable Box Cutter.
It’s not much more than the title suggests — it’s a box cutter with a retractable ceramic blade. I’ve got two of them: one for the basement and one for the main floor of my house, and I use them to cut boxes before putting them in the recycling.
I’m not much of a tool person, so I didn’t understand when people would talk about how much of a joy it was to use a specific well-built tool. Until I bought this box cutter. From the ergonomic candy cane shape to the ceramic blade, I love this thing.
It makes dismantling boxes something I look forward to. What more could you ask for in a tool?
