Kids Still Play the Pokemon Card Game?

So this 9 year old kid, Lucas Ayala, wrote a letter asking the principal of his school to overturn the school’s ban on Pokémon cards. And, what do you know, the principal agreed. According to the New York Daily News,

“I knew nothing about Pokémon,” Assistant Principal Dr. Richard Welles said. “But I did some research and it confirmed what Lucas said. There’s a great deal that’s mathematical about it … so I wrote to the staff saying that we can, under certain circumstances, promote it.”

The ban on Pokémon was lifted at the elementary school last month for third-graders and above, during recess and in some math classes.

Even more amazing is that there are kids still playing Pokémon, really? Not that I don’t love me some Pokémon. The cute little cockfighting monsters recall a kinder, gentler time before the crude inanities of pretenders like Bakugan and Beyblade.
