PETA Activists Simulate Sex in New Haven, Connecticut

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals activists Bethany Walker and Ravi Chand made out on an inflatable mattress on a New Haven, Connecticut, street earlier this month, apparently to illustrate PETA’s claim that vegetarians make better lovers.

Some folks were offended. Denyse Miller, manager of a store near where Chand and Walker were making out, complained to the New Haven Advocate,

I don’t think this is funny! You got small kids walking around here!

Not to worry, Ms. Miller — Ingrid Newkirk is on record as saying that PETA doesn’t target children and that everything they do is aimed at adults. So no worries about children possibly seeing the display.

Others offered editorial comments on Chand and Walker’s technique. The New Haven Advocated reported,

Passersby begged to differ [with the claim that vegetarians make better lovers]. “You need a bigger booty!” called one audience member. When told that the intent was to show that vegetarians are more passionate, onlooker Pamela Davis shook her head in disappointment.

“That’s what this is about?” cried Davis. “That’s pitiful if that’s what they call themselves doing. They need to eat more pork! I eat pork and I can bounce better than that!”

Indeed.
