Wikipedia Updates Its List of Coup Attempts to Add the Capitol Insurrection

From Wikipedia’s List of Coups and Coup Attempts article,

On 6 January, violent supporters of United States President Donald Trump, some armed, stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to stop Biden’s votes from being counted and him being certified as the winner, during the 2021 United States Electoral College count. Lockdown and evacuation orders were given and the session was suspended. In the violent riot that followed (referred to as “the storming of the Capitol”), one pro-Trump supporter was shot and killed by United States Capitol Police and a Capitol Police officer was assaulted with a fire extinguisher and killed by the rioters. In total, 5 people were killed in the attempted coup. Both the Senate and House chambers were breached, as well as the offices of several members of congress, including those of the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The international community immediately reacted, with world leaders and the NATO secretary-general calling for calm. Former President George W. Bush stated, “This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic – not our democratic republic.”
