Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram

The Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India, is a sprawling 40-acre complex initially built sometime in the early 10th century. Dedicated to Nataraja, a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva, the temple features nine gopurams (a large entrance tower), four of which feature colorful narrations of various Hindu texts.
