Shaarli is an open source self-hosted bookmarking service.
The personal, minimalist, super-fast, database free, bookmarking service.
Do you want to share the links you discover? Shaarli is a minimalist link sharing service that you can install on your own server. It is designed to be personal (single-user), fast and handy.
Shaarli has a few things that I liked about it over similar projects
- As mentioned above, it doesn’t require a database and is extremely easy to install.
- The search is genuinely fast, and I appreciated that the software lets me designate private links that don’t get shown and aren’t searchable to visitors.
- The project has been in active development for three years, so at least for the moment it seems unlikely to become abandonware.
The tagging system is a little wonky. If you want to use multi-word tags such as “bookmarking service” you have to set up the tag as “bookmarking-service” or something similar.
There are also fairly limited template options at the moment, but the templating system looks fairly straightforward.
