DubFi is a social network that imposes a number of limitations in order to try to make what it calls “a sane social network”:
Limitations:
1. 240 characters per status
2. ASCII only, displays everywhere
3. unique content, no duplicates
4. only one mention, link or hashtag per status
5. maximum of 5 consecutive statuses
6. no support for multilines or paragraphs
7. no counters for followers, likes, shares, etc.
The service only launched a few months ago, and doesn’t seem to have many users…though maybe that is also one of those limitations that is also a benefit. Maybe smaller social networks would be better for us than those that feature hundreds of millions of users and have to worry about constantly increasing (and monetizing) that metric.
