DamnInteresting.Com

Given all of the weird and bizarre sites on the Internet, DamnInteresting.Com does an excellent job of being, well, damn interesting.

I first ran across the site when Digg.Com linked to Damn Interesting’s account of a Cold War effort that actually built and briefly deployed an artificial ionsphere to make worldwide communications easier in a pre-satellite era. But the site is filled with similarly fascinating articles, such as the mysterious underwaterBloop or the secret Soviet plan to use attack dogs against enemy tanks (which was surprisingly successful, though ended up having unintended consequences).
