E-mail administrators like Barb Niehaus really piss me off. Niehaus runs a mailing list that doesn’t require a confirmation e-mail — so anyone can (and some idiot out there does occasionally) paste my e-mail address in a submission box and I’m receiving her newsletter.
Now I don’t have a problem with that per se. I run some e-mail lists that don’t send confirmation e-mails either when people sign up on the web, and I don’t hold it against her that some troll wanted to sign me up to her list.
What I do have a problem with is when my unsubscribe command does require a confirmation. WTF? Any idiot out there can sign me up for this stupid mailing list, but I have to send a second confirmation e-mail to get off the list? That’s just plain rude.
And she ain’t the only one with such a stupid configuration for her list.
