Boing! Boing! provides a link to Raelity Bite’s most excellent GoogleShare tool. This is way cool.
You need to have a Google API key to use it — which can be obtained for free from Google. Then simply enter a) a search term and b) your name (or anybody else’s name for that matter).
GoogleShare will then return the percentage of pages returned for the search term that also contain your name or as Rael puts it, “you get a percentage that shows you how much the person “owns” the word. Call it semantic mindshare. Or lexical penetration. Or whatever.”
For example, searching on “overpopulation” and “Brian Carnell” returns,
Brian Carnell has a 1.95% googleshare of “overpopulation”
Way cool.
