Blizzard just released their version 1.06 patch for Diablo 2. The description made me laugh out loud,
This latest patch eliminates duplicated items, improves the game’s network code and fixes prior copy protection issues.
The “copy protection issues” pretty much made it impossible for people like me to play the game on some computers (mostly those with the latest CD and DVD drives) without relying on a hacked .exe file. I’m certainly glad they didn’t go all out and make it a high priority to get this problem fixed. People who could never get the game to run without downloading hacked .exe files will probably say to themselves, “Gee, the almost year long wait for them to fix their broken software really made me appreciate the patch that much more!”
