GameTunnel.Com’s Roundup of Top 10 Indie Games of 2005

GameTunnel.Com has published a year end roundup of the top 10 indie games from 2005. These games may not have state-of-the-art graphics, but they have solid, enjoyable gameplay.

My personal favorite here is Ska Software’s Zombie Smashers X. Ska Software has a bunch of cool cheap, downloadable games, none of which I can link to here because the dumbasses did their entire website in Flash. If vampire ninjas or zombies vs. pterodactyls are your thing (and really, why wouldn’t they be), then try to put that aside and check out the site.

Handheld-based Sudoku Generators

I turned a friend of mine on to Sudoku awhile ago, but why pay for Sudoku books when there are free Sudoku generators for both the Palm and Pocket PC platform?

For the Palm, there is Sudoku 1.2 which is very thorough considering its freeware (the author does include a button on the webpage to PayPal him donations if you are so inclined).

For the Pocket PC, there is Sudoku Solver 1.1.

DIY Book Wall Hanging

There’s a nice tutorial at Instructables.Com on how to create a large cube where the sides of the cubes are made up of any long text — the example, appropriately enough, uses Edwin Abbott’s Flatland.

The person who did the tutorial also provides another example, this time using Darwin’s Origin of the Species.

I’m thinking I’ve got to have a Wizard of Oz hanging.
