Freedom Force Goes Gold

The jinx is almost over. Gamespot reports that the computer game Freedom Force has gone gold, meaning it will be in stores soon (probably the last week of March).

Finally, a superhero game has finally made it from development to actual product. For some reason, although computer games and comic books should be a good match (look at all the console games based on comic book franchises), about the only super hero games for computers are crappy ports of console fighting and side scrolling games.

Freedom Force, however, is a real time strategy game emphasizing the sort of bigger-than-life superhero/villan slugfests. It looks like they’ve done everything right, making the game easy to modify so players can create pretty much any sort of superhero/villain they can think of (and the game characters are fully skinnable so there are already hundreds of skins for pretty much every character you can think of).

Woo hoo.

Surprise — Mugabe Wins Rigged Election

In a real shocker, Robert Mugabe won the election he rigged this week. This guy has the same sort of job security that “elected” Soviet officials had back in the day.

I’ve said more than enough about Mugabe and Zimbabwe, but noticed something very peculiar. Is it just me or is Robert Mugabe really Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav? You be the judge.
