Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan keeps blaming women for the rising incidence of rape and sexual assault in his country.
In an interview with Axios on HBO, Khan said,
If a woman is wearing very few clothes, it will have an impact on the men, unless they are robots. It’s just common sense.
On April 5, 2021, Khan gave a speech in which he said that the increase in rapes was due to rising obscenity in Pakistan.
When you increase obscenity in society of course there will be an effect. What is the whole concept of the veil in our (Islamic) religion? So there is no temptation in society.
In September 2020, he blamed Bollywood and indecent culture for rape,
We have an advantage over other developed countries in the world. We have a family system that has not been touched by indecent influences.
. . .
Look at Bollywood, look at the difference in their films now and those 40 years back. The indecency has grown to such exponential levels that Delhi has become the rape capital of the world.
. . .
I want to tell the people of my country that whenever indecent values and cultures are introduced to the society, it has a direct impact in the form of increased sex crimes and break down of family values.
Ironically, Imran Khan’s loves traditional family values so much, he’s on his third marriage.
