This Paul Reubens PSA appears to have been created sometime in the late 1980s when Pee-wee’s Playhouse was still being aired.
There are some claims on the Internet that this was made as part of Reubens’ marijuana possession arrest in 1983, but since Reubens wasn’t well known until Pee-wee’s Playhouse began airing in 1986, that seems far-fetched and unlikely.
The PSA also seems to predate Reubens’s later arrest on indecent exposure charges, with AdWeek and others suggesting the PSA is likely from 1986.
