How Rich Am I? is a site run by The Centre for Effective Altruism that attempts to put the wealth of those of us in the developed world in perspective.
Enter the country you live in, your income, and the number of people in your household, and the site will let you know how rich you are compared to the rest of the world.
For me, for example, it tells me my family is in the top 2% worldwide.
The point isn’t that I’m incredibly wealthy, but rather that global poverty, while improving over the last few decades, still creates these sorts of inequalities. The site notes that I could donate 10 percent of my income and still be in the top 2.3 percent of the global population while potentially saving lives.
