Someone in New York Is Intentionally Contaminating Milk

The Associated Press reported that somebody has been sabotaging milk and cows on New York dairy farms by putting antibiotics into storage tanks and injecting cows with the drugs.

According to New York state police Lt. John Hibsch, the tampering has so far ruined about 44,000 gallons of milk worth about $49,000. There are currently no less than 14 cases of such tampering under investigation.

The milk is tested for contaminants before being sent for processing, and so the antibiotics have been tested, but this could be potentially dangerous for people (like me) who are allergic to some antibiotics.

Police are considering a number of theories from disgruntled employees to the possibility that animal rights activists are behind the tampering. So far there has been no claim of responsibility and few clues (though the fact that there have been 14 separate cases would seem to be limit the possibility of it being a disgruntled worker).
