This is not a 10 billion pixel scan of Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring.”

However, this is a 10 billion pixel scan, and it is nothing less than amazing.
This scan was created to evaluate the painting’s condition and consists of 9,100 photographs taken by a special microscope and then stitched together.
You can zoom in on the reflection in the girl’s left eye, for example, and see this level of detail.
