The eastern chat-tanager (Calyptophilus frugivorus) is a species of bird formerly placed in the family Thraupidae.
It is found on the island of Hispaniola where it is now restricted to central and southern parts of the Dominican Republic. It formerly also occurred on the SamanĂ¡ Peninsula as well as on GonĂ¢ve Island in Haiti. In the south-west of Hispaniola it is replaced by the Western Chat-tanager (C. tertius) which was formerly classified as a subspecies of the Eastern Chat-tanager. (source)
