Custom 8-Inch Action Figure Supplies
Emce Toys’ Make Your Own Zombie kit is a nice, but at $50-$60 for a single body and an assortment of heads, hands, etc., that’s a pretty expensive way to get into customizing action figures.
As an alternative, Classic TV Toys sells a variety of 8-inch Mego-style male and female bodies, heads and accessories that are reasonably priced. For example, you can grab a 5-pack of male bodies for $19. The site sells pretty much everything you’ll need to get started making your own custom figures.
Make Your Own Zombie Action Figure
A couple years ago, Emce Toys — which manufactures a number of 8″ figure lines — announced a “Make Your Own Action Figure” kit that, as far as I can tell, was never actually offered for sale. Now they’re back with this “Make Your Own Zombie Action Figure” kit.
The kit comes with an 8″ (apparently that’s 1/9 scale) body and 5 heads, 2 paris of arms, 2 pairs of lower legs, 2 pairs of hands, 1 pair of feet, 2 sets of clothes, and 1 chest prosthetic. Also included is “a DVD that features painting and assembly instructions.”
This comes out in September 2011 for $50-$60.
Universal Studios Mummy Action Figure
This Universal Studios Mummy action figure was released awhile ago, but is being re-released later this year. And, really, you can never have enough Universal monster figures, can you?
Heroes In Action’s Presidential Monster Line
At one time, Heroes In Action was going to do a line of Mego-style figures of American presidents, and they did do a Barack Obama that quickly sold out.
Now, though, they’re going in a slightly different direction a bit by offering a series of monster versions of U.S. presidents (insert obvious political editorializing here). For example, here’s their Abraham Lincoln figure next to the monsterfied Lincolnstein. Nice. Can’t wait for the monsterfied version of Warren G. Harding.
