For the most part I wasn’t impressed with McFarlane’s Guitar Hero action figures (mostly because neither the franchise nor the underlying images interests me all tha tmuch), but I must own this Metal Head figure.

JUN Planning’s Enormous Nightmare Before Christmas Diorama
Tokyo-based JUN Planning took over the toy licences for Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas awhile ago, and they are releasing piece-by-piece a gigantic 1/4 scale Halloween Town diorama, based upon a similar diorama that Burton had created as a reference prior to the creation of the film.
Grabbed the photo of the full diorama set up at Toy Fair 2008 from Dave’s Cool Toys. The dimensions on this monster are 95 inches long x 76 inches wide x 33 inches high. Holy crap.
But the price point is probably going to be a bigger barrier to this than the size. The diorama is built from 7 separate pieces that cost, in total, $24,570 . . . plus shipping!
Cloverfield Figure Review from Action-Figure.Com
Gollum over at Action-Figure.Com has a so-so review of the Cloverfield monster action figure,
So, bottom line..on the positive side: It’s a cool monster with lots of articulation and is loads of fun. On the negative: It’s a little more expensive than it should be, and is probably coming out a little late since the movie isn’t fresh on people’s minds anymore.
Yeah, and since the movie barely cleared $80 million domestic it wasn’t really on too many people’s minds to begin with. I assume all of the (unwarranted as it turned out) secrecy over the movie prevented doing toys in time for the movie’s release.
Marvel Legends Icons Waves 5 and 6
Images of Waves 5 and 6 of Hasbro’s Marvel Icons series have hit all the usual action figure websites. I dunno, these look okay in the promo pictures, but I gave up on this line a long time ago due to the absolutely awful sculpts on some of the figures (see, for example, the awful head sculpt on the Marvel Legends Icons Magneto –ugh).
Bruce Campbell 12″ Action Figure
In April 2009, Dark Horse is planning to release a 12″ Bruce Campbell action figure tied to the release of My Name Is Bruce. Dark Horse has this listed as $49.99, but the solicitation in Previews had it at $89.99.
