Liberals Have Fun With Tax Cuts — But Miss the Point

There are a number of web sites and articles (here’s one from The American Prospect) about a proposed way for liberals to revolt against the evil Bush tax cut. The idea is that such people should take their tax rebate and donate it to a group fighting the Bush agenda.

Which is exactly the point of tax cuts in the first place — even diehard liberals are far better managers of their own money than George W. Bush is.

What I’d really like to see happen now is for liberals to come out for repealing the 16th amendment altogether. Imagine how many good liberal causes these folks could fund if the Bush government wasn’t swiping so much right out of their payroll checks to fund unnecessary weapons systems, pork barrel spending, and corporate welfare.

Lets really sock it to Bush and eliminate taxes altogether.

(As an aside, I’ve never understood why some of my more liberal friends hate tax cuts but idolize tax resisters who refuse to pay on the grounds that their money goes to pay for foreign wars, etc.)
