Mattel’s Ghostbusters’ PKE Meter Replica

At times it seemed Mattel was never going to get around to releasing it, but last Fall the toy company finally released their replica of the Ghostbusters’ PKE Meter. All the reviews I’ve seen on this peg it as being very well done, with the sounds, flashing lights, and opening wings (and probably about as reliable at detecting ghosts as those idiots on Ghost Hunters). Unfortunately, that level of detail will also set you back $150-$180.

Nick Fury ID Set

This Nick Fury ID Set was released around the time Iron Man 2 came out. It’s a wallet style identification, complete with replica SHIELD badge and Nick Fury ID card. And, of course, a blank ID card so you can impress the ladies with your uber-Marvel dorkness (that’s my plan anyway). About $30 on Amazon.com at the moment, so get them while they’re hot.

Ring of Dracula Prop Replica

Hmmm…Factory Entertainment is set to release a replica of the signet-style ring that first appeared in 1944′s House of Frankenstein (where John Carradine played the Dracula role) and was later worn by Dracula actors in Universal and Hammer films.

This replica is based on the original prop ring Forest Ackerman acquired and famously wore. There has been some debate over the provenance of that ring, but it seems pretty clear it was almost certainly worn by Bela Lugosi in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, and probably also by John Carradine in the two Universal movies he did as Dracula. That ring sold for $46,000 at auction in 2009 after Ackerman’s death.

The replica ring will be available in two editions — a collector’s edition for about $49.99 and an “elite” edition made from sterling silver and semi-precious stone for about $199.99. This is supposed to be available sometime in November 2010.

Tribble Replica Three Pack

I mentioned Diamond Select’s tribble replica back in September 2008, but not only are these finally out but Entertainment Earth has a nice three-pack of different colors (so you can match your tribble with your Star Trek uniform replica?)

Each has a switch so you can select either the soothing tribble coo or the Klingon detecting agitated mode.

Blackest Night Power Ring Spectrum Set

So I have this problem with Green Lantern rings already, and now DC Direct has to go and announce this Blackest Night set for July. And these aren’t just any power rings — these have an LED that lights up when you wear it (the light can be turned off manually to save batter life, and perhaps also to look a bit less like a dork, though by the time you’re wearing this, that battle’s pretty much lost).

$60 for the set, and the batteries are user replaceable.
