Stupid Registration Schemes
Occasionally I want to mention or point to something that was posted at CreativityOnline.com. Except they have this policy that articles posted to the site,
… is free for 7 days after it is posted. The article … requires a subscription. If you are a subscriber, please login below. Otherwise, subscribe now.
The kicker is that the subscription is completely free, except you have to enter all sorts of demographic information including name, address, type of business you work at, job function, etc.
Riiight. Sorry, there’s never going to be anything captivating at your site to make me waste my time going through that process.
Lacie USB Key Drive
I would never buy another Lacie hard drive ever again, but this 4gb USB Flash Drive key is very nice. Besides at only $27, when it inevitably fails two weeks after it arrives like pretty much every other Lacie product I’ve ever bought, at least I won’t be out that much money or data.

LMAO at T-Shirt
I have been meaning to link to this hilarious Split Reason t-shirt for some time now (hey Offworld, notice Split Reason doesn’t need to put lameass ugly watermarks on their images, nor make it so difficult to get a high quality image??)

Broken Link Checker Plugin for WordPress
Broken Link Checker is a plugin for WordPress that will periodically check links in your blog posts and alert you in the Dashboard of links that no longer work. The frequency of link checking can be set by the user, and the plugin allows a range of options for the admin to deal with the broken links, from ignoring them to removing them and a number of intermediate steps.
Gilligan’s Planet — Where’s the DVD Set with Commentary?
One of my favorite pop culture blogs, BooBerry Alarmclock, highlights some screen caps and YouTube vid of the classic 1980s Saturday morning cartoon, Gilligan’s Planet.
Even if you’ve never seen it, the title probably gives it away. The Professor manages to build a spaceship (of course — why didn’t he think of that before!) to get off the island, but of course things go awry and the castaways end up marooned on another planet.
Except for Tina Louise (who obviously had issues with the whole Gilligan gig), all the original cast provided the voices.
So my only question is how come its 2009 and this still isn’t on DVD?
Stargate SG-1 Coasters
I know there are a lot of people who liked it, but I consider Stargate SG-1 to be right down there with some of the worst genre shows ever (I’d rather watch the Kevin Sorbo ouvre rather than SG-1). The one thing I will concede that SG-1 had going for it is style — the show just looked damn good. And so do these SG-1 Coasters designed to look like the Stargate. Awesome.

Star Trek Cufflinks for the Well Dressed Nerd
There’s a part of me that would run out and buy these Star Trek cufflinks tomorrow, except then I remember I’d probably have to start dressing like an adult in order to use them. Um, no thanks.

I Rent to PWN T-Shirt
Offworld Designs makes this awesome “I Rent to PWN” t-shirt. Now if Offworld would only remove these ugly watermarks on their product photos and make it easier for me to pimp their products!

Warman’s Lunch Boxes Field Guide
I think everyone who collects something inevitably reaches a point where crossing over into something will turn the hobby into an obsession. For me, that point which I is lunchboxes. I actually own several superhero-themed lunch boxes (all purchased cheaply in supermarkets), but they sit tucked away in my basement as, frankly, they scare me a little bit. That’s just going a bit too far for my taste.
So sometimes I’m tempted to pick up a copy of Warman’s Lunch Boxes Field Guide, but I know the next step is bidding wars on eBay for that 1974 Planet of the Apes metal lunchbox that I sincerely believed made me the coolest kid evar in school. But $110 or so for a nostalgic lunch box? That way, my friend, lies madness.
